For Advanced On-Page SEO Audit by SeoWebChecker Browser Extension
🔒 Zero Data Collection & Local Processing Guarantee
The Advanced On-Page SEO Audit extension runs 100% locally inside your browser runtime. We do not track, collect, store, sell, or transmit your browsing history, webpage contents, personal information, or audit results to any external servers or third parties.
1. Overview & Single Purpose
Advanced On-Page SEO Audit by SeoWebChecker ("the Extension", "we", "our") is a browser extension developed to provide webmasters, digital marketers, and developers with comprehensive on-page SEO audits.
The single purpose of the Extension is to evaluate the rendered Document Object Model (DOM) of the webpage actively open in your browser tab and display actionable SEO recommendations regarding HTML metadata, headings, content quality, canonicalization, robots directives, image attributes, hyperlinks, Schema.org structured data, and performance indicators.
We believe privacy is a fundamental right. The Extension is deliberately engineered to perform all analysis client-side on your local device.
2. Information Processed Locally on Your Device
When you voluntarily invoke an audit by clicking the Extension icon or the "⚡ Rescan" button, the Extension reads and analyzes public web elements from the active tab in local browser memory:
- Metadata Elements: The document
<title>, meta description, robots directives, canonical tags, Open Graph, and Twitter card tags.
- Heading Hierarchy:
<h1> through <h6> headings, checking for structure, sequence, and character length.
- Content Metrics: Visible body text word count, character count, paragraph metrics, and target keyword density calculations.
- Hyperlink Elements: Outbound and internal anchor links (
<a href>), checking for anchor text quality, internal/external distribution, and rel attributes.
- Media Elements: Image elements (
<img>), checking for alt text attributes, file formats, and layout dimensions.
- Structured Data: Embedded
application/ld+json blocks and Microdata attributes for Schema.org compliance.
- Local User Preferences: Your preferred UI theme (Dark/Light mode) and recent target keyword entries stored in
chrome.storage.local.
All of the above information is processed transiently in your computer's local memory and is never transmitted off your computer.
3. Information We Do NOT Collect
The Extension strictly enforces zero telemetry. We do not collect, harvest, log, or transmit:
- ❌ Personal Identifiable Information (PII): No names, email addresses, phone numbers, physical locations, or IP addresses.
- ❌ Browsing History or Background Activity: We do not monitor your tabs, visited URLs, web searches, or background browsing.
- ❌ Authentication or Financial Data: We never access form inputs, passwords, session tokens, cookies, or payment information.
- ❌ Third-Party Analytics: No tracking beacons, Google Analytics, telemetry SDKs, or advertising identifiers are included in the Extension.
4. Browser Permissions & Technical Justification
In accordance with the principle of least privilege required by the Google Chrome Web Store, Mozilla Add-ons (AMO), and Microsoft Edge Add-ons, the Extension requests only the minimum permissions necessary:
| Permission |
Type |
Strict Justification & Usage |
activeTab |
API Permission |
Allows the Extension to access the currently active webpage only when you explicitly open the popup or initiate an audit. It avoids requiring permanent background access to your browsing history. |
scripting |
API Permission |
Enables the Extension under Manifest V3 to execute the read-only DOM extraction script and the non-destructive visual element highlighter on user command. |
storage |
API Permission |
Uses chrome.storage.local exclusively to retain your UI theme preference (Dark/Light) and target keyword history locally on your device. |
http://*/*
https://*/* |
Host Permissions |
Required solely because the Extension is a universal website auditing utility that allows you to inspect any public website you choose to navigate to. The script is passive and never executes on internal browser URLs (chrome://, about:, or the Chrome Web Store). |
5. Network Activity & External Requests
The Extension operates completely offline by default. Limited network requests occur only in the following user-directed scenarios:
- Robots.txt Directive Verification: The Extension issues a direct HTTP GET request from your browser to the audited domain's public
/robots.txt file to examine crawl directives.
- Link HTTP Status Check: When you explicitly click "Verify Outbound Link HTTP Status", the Extension issues standard HTTP HEAD requests directly from your browser to destination URLs to check status codes (e.g., 200, 301, 404).
- No Proxy Servers: All requests originate directly from your client browser to the destination host. No data is ever proxied through SeoWebChecker servers or third-party intermediates.
6. Data Retention & User Control
Because all audit findings are processed in runtime memory, closing the audit tab completely clears the analyzed data from memory.
Any interface preferences saved in local storage (such as theme choice) remain strictly on your local machine. You have complete control to wipe this data at any time by:
- Clearing your browser extension data or cache.
- Uninstalling or removing the Extension from your browser's extension management page.
7. Third-Party Sharing & Sale of Data
We do not sell, rent, monetize, trade, or transfer any user data, browsing information, or audit findings to any third parties, data brokers, advertising networks, or analytics providers. Period.
8. Compliance with Store Developer Program Policies
This Privacy Policy and the Extension comply with:
- Google Chrome Web Store User Data Policy: Including Limited Use compliance, single-purpose requirements, and explicit permission justifications.
- Mozilla Add-on Policies: Compliant with strict Manifest V3 data consent standards (
data_collection_permissions declared as none).
- Microsoft Edge Add-ons Developer Agreement: Meeting all security, performance, and transparency criteria.
9. Children's Privacy (COPPA & GDPR)
The Extension does not knowingly collect or solicit any personal information from children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the European Union). Because no user data is collected from any user regardless of age, the Extension is fully compliant with COPPA and European GDPR standards.
10. Updates to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect operational, legal, or regulatory requirements. Any modifications will be posted to this page with an updated "Effective Date" at the top of this document. Continued use of the Extension following the posting of changes constitutes acceptance of those changes.
