What does inverting an image mean?
Inverting an image replaces each pixel's RGB values with their complements (255 minus the original). Dark areas become bright, and each color shifts to its opposite on the color wheel — producing a photographic negative effect.
How do I invert only the red channel?
Switch to the Channel Invert tab. You will see three buttons: Red, Green, Blue. Deactivate Green and Blue, keeping only Red active, then click Apply Invert. Only the red channel will be inverted.
Does inverting and then re-inverting restore the original?
Mathematically yes — 255 − (255 − x) = x. The Double Invert button applies inversion twice for verification. Minor rounding differences may appear with lossy formats, so always use PNG for lossless round-trips.

What is threshold inversion?
